Coming off a 4-0 victory against Haverfordwest County AFC, Cardiff City FC drew against Colchester United FC 2-2 at Cardiff City Stadium on 09 August, 2023.
The match between Cardiff City FC and Colchester United FC ended in a thrilling draw at Cardiff City Stadium. In the first half of the game, Cardiff City FC led by Rubin Colwill and Andy Rinomhota opened the scoring in minute 19, and Kion Etete doubled the lead in minute 35. John Akinde struck back for Colchester in minute 40, assisted by Jayden Fevrier who provided the second goal four minutes later, to end the half at 2-2. In the second half, Rubin Colwill was given a yellow card for a foul committed in minute 78 while Colchester’s Samson Tovide was issued a red card in minute 89 for a serious foul. Despite the intense action and two team’s efforts throughout, the game remained a draw.
