Close Encounter: Morro Bay nips Santa Maria Pioneer Valley 29-26

Morro Bay topped Santa Maria Pioneer Valley 29-26 in a tough tilt for a California high school football victory on November 19.

The clock was the only thing that stopped Morro Bay, which enjoyed the upper hand in an 8-6 fourth quarter, too.

The Pirates broke in front at the beginning of the fourth quarter with a 21-20 lead over the Panthers.

Santa Maria Pioneer Valley came from behind to grab the advantage 20-14 at intermission over Morro Bay.

The Panthers showed they were ready to play, using an early thrust to carve out a 14-7 advantage over the Pirates as the first quarter ended.
