A rematch of last month’s thrilling contest takes place today, Anfield as hometown heroes Liverpool FC look to repeat their 2-0 victory over visiting Wolverhampton Wanderers FC in March of this year.
In the first meeting between these teams, Liverpool FC were able to snatch the lead in the 15th minute, when Stefan Bajcetic was handed a yellow card for an infringement. Wolverhampton responded soon after, as Nélson Semedo was also booked for a foul in the 36th minute.
The second half proved to be just as exciting. In the 73rd minute, Virgil van Dijk opened the scoring with a goal for Liverpool FC, assisted by the Portuguese Diogo Jota. The dynamic Mohamed Salah closed out the scoring in the 77th minute, with a shot assisted by Kostas Tsimikas. Fabinho was given a yellow card for fouls in the 53rd minute, and Wolves’ Rúben Neves was also handed a yellow card for dissent in the 68th.
