Buford Lanier showed it was ready to play, using an early thrust to carve out an 8-7 advantage over Kennesaw Mountain as the first quarter ended.
The Mustangs’ offense darted in front for a 21-15 lead over the Longhorns at the intermission.
Kennesaw Mountain jumped to a 28-15 lead heading into the final quarter.
