Winder Apalachee loses steam in OT, falls to Lithia Springs 30-27

Lithia Springs didn’t mind playing a little longer, via an overtime period, to defeat Winder Apalachee 30-27 for a Georgia high school football victory on Nov. 12.

Winder Apalachee authored a promising start, taking a 17-8 advantage over Lithia Springs at the end of the first quarter.

The Wildcats climbed on top in the first half and stayed there with a 24-8 lead at halftime.

Winder Apalachee had cause for optimism when it began the final quarter on top of Lithia Springs 24-18.

The Lions had their advantage wiped out when the Wildcats authored a 6-0 rally in the final quarter.

Lithia Springs got the better of the first overtime-period scoring, finishing the game in style with a 6-3 edge.
